- a weekend of VI 101
for families with newly diagnosed and/or very young children with visual
impairments
- INSITE
- a six day training designed for
early childhood teams with children who have sensory impairments
- 1 day topics include: working with families, vision information,
hearing information, communication, motor development, and Active
Learning
- Active Learning and the Use of the Little Room
- training
for professionals and families in a one-day workshop, child demonstration
format, or combination two day training.
- IDEA
- a one or two day workshop for families
about provisions in the IDEA specifically related to students with visual
impairments
- Student Assessment
- a one or two day workshop
on assessment presented by Marnee Loftin, TSBVI campus associate school
psychologist
- Functional Vision Evaluations and Learning Media Assessments
- practical
tips and strategies for VI professionals.
- Tactile Graphics
- a one or two day workshop
for VI staff on developing tactile graphics instruction and production
skills
- Identification of Deafblindness
- a 1/2 or
full day training for AI and VI staff
- Touch
- a weekend workshop for families centered
on the importance and wonder of developing the sense of touch in their
children.
- BART
- Bonding and Relaxation Techniques or massage
for families. This can be offered for families to use with their own
children or for professionals to learn how to teach the techniques to
their families. Possible
benefits for the child include: promotes bonding and attachment which can
help with building communication, relaxation and stress reduction, tones
muscles, improve circulation and respiration, and stimulates digestive
system.
- Taking Charge of Your Future
- a transition
oriented weekend workshop for the entire family including
adult mentors, sib shop techniques, volunteer opportunities and informational
presentations to encourage active participation in transition for students
who are visually impaired. This special workshop requires interagency
coordination and funding sources.
- DB Interaction Training
- a two-part training
on analyzing and increasing communication with deafblind students, based
upon research by Dr. van Dijk.
- Biobehavioral states
- a workshop that focuses
on children with the most profound impairments who are often in the agitated
or drowsy biobehavioral states, rather than the states needed for learning.
- Integrating Technology for Braille Literacy
- a workshop aimed at early Braille readers and struggling Braille readers.
- Assistive Technology for Students with Visual Impairments
- TSBVI
offers a range of technology-related trainings including specific devices and
tools for access as well as evaluation strategies and classroom instructional
tips.
