This workshop will give an overview on how to use Scientific Notebook along with Duxbury in order to produce Nemeth code. Participants should have some knowledge of the Nemeth code and know the basics of the Duxbury software. This workshop will also introduce the participants to the Audio Graphing Calculator; a software program that allows students to create auditory graphs and that also can be used in conjunction with the Tiger Braille embossers to produce tactile graphs.
Developing appropriate IEPs for visually impaired students is often challenging. Aligning them to state academic standards can be even more so. Join us to explore ways that TVIs can make the state academic standards (the TEKS, TAKS, general education curriculum, grade level content, etc.) meaningful and accessible for VI students. The presenters will examine the “evaluation to IEP to instruction” cycle and present ways to align both academic and expanded core areas to state standards at the student’s assigned grade level. CPE credits will be offered. Academy CPUs pending.
Personal Futures Planning is a form of person-centered planning pioneered by Beth Mount in the 1970s-80s. This workshop is meant to introduce a group of individuals to this valuable planning tool for helping individuals with blindness or deafblindness and their families plan for the future.
