The WALIC program is a 4-week vocational and independent living program for children who are visually impaired with developmental disabilities. Students must be able to participate in approximately 15 hours a week of work-related activities with the support of a job coach (up to 5 hours in a given day).
Students spend most of their day at a community job, learning: (1) a variety of work routines, (2) how to interact with a supervisor and with coworkers, and (3) what is expected in a work situation.
Students live in home-like settings where they participate in independent living skills.
