All sessions that have the ForCEU icon beside them are approved for ACVREP and SBEC continuing education credits.

You may access these webinars via computer, iPad or iPhone. The audio portion of these webinars is only accessible via a phone.  If you have never attended one of these webinars previously, you will want to enter the room about a half-hour ahead of time in case you need to download the Zoom App and make sure it is working.  Links to enter the webinar and handouts will be sent via email to registered participants only.

If you miss the original webinar broadcast, most of these broadcasts will be archived on our Online Learning site. If you wish to receive credit for viewing an archived event you must submit a Delayed Viewing Request, get the code and complete the online evaluation.

Designing Routines ForCEU

Using video, webinar series participants will collaborate with one another throughout the school year in order to design effective and meaningful routines for their own students. Webinar moderators will present the first student (in September) and participants will volunteer for subsequent student videos. Participants will make suggestions for what will help the student within the routine. The staff who shares their student video will follow up in the next session with video and/or discussion of how the suggestions worked out for the student.  Additional Designing Routines webinars are scheduled for November 27, 2018, January 29, 2019 and March 26, 2019.

Active Learning Study Group: Hand Development ForCEU

This webinar will be presented by Patty Obrzut and Jessica McCavit, who are both Occupational Therapists at Penrickton Center for Blind Children in Taylor, Michigan. This is the first in a three-part series during the 2018-2019 school-year. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to join all three sessions.  All sessions are broadcast from 3:00-4:00 PM Central Standard Time. Participants will discuss newly submitted materials and offer suggestions to share with the community of professionals and parents who would like the opportunity to learn together. Participants will explore suggestions with their student and share how the student responds with the group. Participants will explore topics and resources of interest related to CVI as identified by the group. These webinars will not be recorded. Tomás and the Case of the Mysterious Missing Dog ForCEU

Tomás and the Case of the Mysterious Missing Dog is a book for encouraging and empowering students with low vision. Inspired by the book, Monocular Mac, created by Dr. Anne Corn in the 1970’s, this book  is an illustrated story intended to inspire students with low vision to explore the many possibilities in which their equipment and strategies can be helpful, not only in the classroom, but in real-life situations as well. Intended for elementary readers, the tale relates the adventures of Tomás and his friends as they search for his beloved dog. The book will be available for free download in digital format, both in black and white and color options. Illustrations and print are provided in a format that is easy for students with low vision to access. During this webinar, the book will be presented in its entirety, showing all illustrations and a dramatic reading. A short discussion will follow, allowing participants to provide feedback.
